SMEDLEY: 2022 NBA Draft Results: Indiana Pacers get their wing of the future with No. 6 pick

SMEDLEY: With the No. 6 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers selected Bennedict Mathurin, who is an explosive athlete that showcases tremendous athletic ability that also shows a fiery passion for the game of basketball and should provide the Pacers with yet another scoring option and a player who has room to improve defensively, while not being a liability on that end either.

50 years of Title IX

June 23, 2022, marks the 50th anniversary of Title IX, a federal civil rights law passed in the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or educational program that is given funding by the government. In the world of athletics, Title IX helped give female athletes equal opportunity in all educational-based athletics.

Smiling through the pain: Ball State Track & Field athlete Charity Griffith heads to the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships viewing her injury with optimism

Ball State Track & Field junior Charity Griffith is headed to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon to compete in the Women's high jump final June 11 at 2 p.m. (pacific). She will do so with a torn meniscus, an injury she has looked at with surprising optimism.

Delta, Yorktown and Muncie Burris Boys' Golf Regionals results

Delta High School's Riley Bratton advanced to the State Finals June 14-15, as June 9, Delta and Yorktown High School Boys' Golf teams competed in Regional 3, hosted by Muncie Central High School at The Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana. Muncie Burris was also represented individually by Nahom Solomon.

Baseball and Softball All-Delaware County Teams announced

As announced June 7, athletes from six Delaware County High Schools were selected to All-Delaware County Teams in both baseball and softball. For Softball, Yorktown High School led the way with six selections, and Baseball saw Cowan, Delta and Wapahani High School tie for the most selections with four each.
