The Daily News is a one-day-a-week, student-directed newspaper. Its 90+ year history makes it the longest-standing student media organization on campus. It is one of the nation’s top college newspapers and consistently wins national awards.

As members of The Ball State Daily News, students break campus news and dig into issues relevant to the Ball State and Muncie community. The staff practices a digital-first approach in its coverage. Paid and unpaid positions are available in reporting, editing, design, video, photography and more.

The Daily News is part of a larger group called Unified Media. Unified Media is a collaboration of student media organizations at Ball State University including The Daily News, Ball Bearings Magazine, Byte, The Benny Weather Group, NewsLink Indiana and The McKinley Avenue Agency. Together, they strive to produce relevant, compelling and informative content.

The Daily News and Unified Media provide educational opportunities for students that cannot be taught in the classroom. The students involved gain professional, real-world experience; connect with like-minded students; network with professionals; and engage in meaningful professional development.

The Daily News and Unified Media are largely funded through advertising and creative service sales by their Unified Media partner, The McKinley Avenue Agency. All revenue goes directly back into the operating budget for student media. While McKinley Avenue has grown to include full-service strategic communication services in order to make up for the loss of advertising revenue seen in newspapers nation-wide, The Daily News needs your support to continue to offer the world-class educational experience it has been known and celebrated for.
