Eight Delaware County High School Boys' Golf programs competed in Sectionals June 6, with two programs and one individual advancing to Regionals.
Boys’ Golf Sectional 16
Yorktown High School Boys’ Golf won Sectional 16, their 23rd in program history, in a meet consisting of 12 teams, seven of which were from Delaware County. Monroe Central High School hosted the meet at Hickory Hills Golf Club on June 6.
The Tigers’ (Yorktown) final team score was 322 and Christian Groves finished with the lowest single score, shooting a 75. In the lowest five individual scores, three of which came from Yorktown.
Delta High School finished second in the meet, advancing to Regionals along with Yorktown, as the Eagles finished with a 328. The top three lowest team scores advance to Regionals along with the top three lowest individual scores of those whose team didn’t advance to Regionals.
Of the three individuals to advance to Regionals without their team, one came from a Delaware County High School in the form of Muncie Burris Academy’s Nahom Solomon. Solomon shot a 78, the second-lowest overall score in the entire meet.
Wapahani High School finished sixth as a team, Muncie Central High School finished seventh, Wes-Del High School finished eighth, Cowan High School finished ninth and Muncie Burris finished 10th.
Those who advanced, team or individual, are scheduled to compete June 9 at 8 a.m. at The Players Club in Yorktown, Indiana in the Regional Championship. The top three teams plus the top five lowest individual scores, excluding individuals who advance with a team, advance to the State Finals at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana, June 14-15. Ties for 5th place must be played off in order to advance.
Boys’ Golf Sectional 15
In Boys’ Golf Sectional 15, hosted by Noblesville High School at Harbour Trees June 6, Daleville High School finished 12th of 12 with a score of 459. The Broncos (Daleville) had no individuals advance to Regionals either, as Josh Brushar shot their lowest score (108).
