Eight Ball State baseball players named Academic All-MAC

Ball State had eight of its members named to the Baseball Academic All-MAC team. The Mid-American Conference league offices announced the team on Friday.  In order to make the list, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in 50 percent of the contests. RELATED: Stayton earns back-to-back Academic All-American honors The list of Cardinals who qualified include seniors Caleb Stayton, BJ Butler and Sean Kennedy.

Stayton earns back-to-back first team academic all-american honors

For the second consecutive year, senior infielder Caleb Stayton of the Ball State baseball team was named to the first team 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division l baseball team. The organization who selected the team is the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Out of the 33 members selected for this years team, Stayton is one of two previous first team Academic All-America selections, joined by Hartford senior infielder David MacKinnon. This years team includes 19 members, including Stayton, who carry at least a 3.90 GPA and nine student-athletes with a 4.0 GPA. Stayton is also the only player from the Mid-American Conference selected for the team.

Ball State updates time of 2017 football schedule

Several times for Ball State's 2017 football schedule have been released. The 2017 campaign includes an even split between home and road games – six at home and six on the road. While the times of two of Ball State's road games remained to be announced, including their games against Illinois on Sept.

Ball State track & field athletes end 2017 season at NCAA regionals

Ball State sophomore's Regan Lewis and Peyton Stewart ended their 2017 campaign's at the NCAA East Preliminary Track & Field Championships last week. Lewis cleared a 1.74m high jump on her third attempt to place 21st among the 48 of the region's top high jumpers on Friday.

Ball State pair prepares for NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary Round

Only four people continue to show up for Ball State track and field practices at the Briner Sports Complex in mid-May. The four – head coach Brian Etelman, assistant coach Stephen Krupa, sophomore Regan Lewis and sophomore Peyton Stewart – are preparing for the upcoming NCAA East Preliminary Round at the University of Kentucky. The pair of sophomores earned spots in the prelims, Stewart becoming the first Ball State sprinter to compete since 2010 and Lewis being the first field athlete to qualify since 2015.

Ball State basketball player meets Chance the Rapper

While in Pittsburgh, Trey Moses had the opportunity to meet last year’s Grammy award-winning artist Chance the Rapper. The Ball State basketball player purchased VIP tickets to his performance, allowing him to meet the 24-year-old artist and even snap a selfie that got over 1,000 likes and 400 retweets on Twitter. “We really didn’t talk about much; it was more of a kind of like ‘Hey’ and then we took the picture,” Moses said.

Men's tennis has 5 earn 2017 Academic All-MAC honors

Five members of the Ball State men's tennis team were named to the 2017 Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team. Senior Lucas Anderson won the award for the third time while it was senior Andrew Stutz' second honor and the first for sophomores Conner Anderson, Marko Guzina and Nemanja Guzina. This award adds onto Lucas Anderson's already impressive collection.

Two Ball State track & field athletes named First Team All-MAC

After their first place finishes in last week's Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships, sophomores Regan Lewis and Peyton Stewart were named to the All-MAC First Team. Lewis secured a spot in the high jump during the NCAA Preliminary Regional in Lexington, Kentucky on May 26, after her performance in the conference tournament. Her 1.82m high jump was not only best in the MAC, but it was the second-best jump in program history and a personal best for Lewis.

Ball State track and field wins pair of individual conference titles

Ball State track and field won its first individual conference championship in five years when sophomores Peyton Stewart and Regan Lewis were victorious in their events on Saturday afternoon. Stewart won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.55 seconds, setting a personal record in the process.

Ball State softball players earn spots on All-Conference teams

Now that Mid-American Conference league play has ended, the Ball State softball squad has more to celebrate than entering the MAC tournament seeded No. 5 with an overall record of 30-26 (14-10 MAC. They also have four players that have earned spots on All-Conference teams.  Junior second baseman Maddy Labrador became the 31st player in program history to be named First Team All-Mid-American Conference.
