In the early hours of Sunday morning, a vehicle ran into a Linden House apartment on the intersection of Riverside and Linden Street in Muncie.

The call came in at 1:16 a.m. to the Muncie Police Department. The Muncie Police Department, University Police Department and Muncie Fire/EMS Department were on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that crashed was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital, a dispatcher at the Muncie Police Department said. She was released on Monday, according to hospital officials. The suspect, an 18-year-old woman, was arrested for two counts of OWI.

Jia He was in the apartment when the crash happened. He was sleeping in his bedroom on the same floor level as the crash. He was not injured. He said his cat, Maya, was in the living room at the time of the crash and was also not injured.

"I'm okay and my cat is okay, so everything [is] okay," He said.

He said was going to a hotel after the accident and was seen at the scene of the accident carrying some of his belongings into his neighbor's apartment.

When the crash happened, he heard a big noise but didn't really investigate the situation.

"Someone knocked [on] my door. 'Everyone get out.' It was a policeman. And I woke up and someone asked me to get out because they need[ed] to pull the car out," He said.

Ball Memorial Hospital could not give comment on the driver due to HIPAA.

The car, which ended up being taken away by a towing company, was located near a blossoming pink tree at the time of the accident. The front of the car was damaged and looked crushed in.

The front of the apartment was also damaged, with at least one window shattered, the door entryway was broken in and the accident left a gaping hole in the apartment.

Several crowds of students gathered at the scene.
