Ball State Women’s Golf finished top five in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) championship match for the second time in the last four years at the Stone Oak Country Club in Holland, Ohio.
Friday
Competition began for the five-woman squad Friday with senior Tiegan Taylor teeing off at 9 a.m. followed by senior Hadley Moritz, senior Dylann Armstrong, sophomore Kia Parrott and senior Liz Kim.
Through 18 holes, Kim led the Cardinals on day one shooting a 5-over-par score and tying for 10th place.
Parrott’s 7-over-par score ended her first day in a tie for 14th place with Toledo freshman Yedam Lee and Eastern Michigan sophomore Anna Watson.
Armstrong started her weekend in a six-way tie for 22nd place on a 9-over-par score to round out the Ball State players who finished in the top half of the field.
Saturday
Moritz teed off first for the Cardinals at 9:50 a.m. at 15-over-par and finished her day at 26-over-par score. Armstrong stormed ahead of her six-way tie from Friday and finished the second day tied for 10th place at 9-over-par.
Kim’s 6-over-par score propelled her from 10th place to a tie for fifth place with Akron sophomore Jenn David.
Parrott fell back from 14th place to a tie for 25th place after shooting a 17-over-par score on her second round of 18 holes.
Sunday
Kim teed off last for the Cardinals at 9:40 a.m. but finished her weekend six spots back from a top-five finish at 15-over-par.
Armstrong balanced out her strong Saturday showing with a 17-over-par score to put her final standing at 14th place.
Parrott jumped up five spots on the final day by shooting a 19-over-par, ending in a tie for 20th place.
Overall, Ball State finished fifth out of 10 teams with a total of 944 points. Kent State won the championship after scoring 899 points.
During the awards presentation, graduate student Liz Kim was named 2022 MAC sportswoman of the year for the second consecutive year.
