MITS makes getting around the city of Muncie easy. With 14 different bus routes, MITS reaches neighborhoods and businesses across the city, including Ball State, Downtown Muncie, and the Muncie Mall! So, why should you ride a MITS bus? We’ll give you the top five reasons why you should!

1. Student Ride for Free!

That’s right, you read that correctly, students ride for free. All you have to do is show the driver your Ball State student ID. This means you can go shopping or get around town without having to bum a ride from a friend or going out to the stadium for your car. Plus, what college student doesn’t like free stuff!

2. Trip Planner

Well, you might be thinking, “I would love not to have to bum rides, but I don’t know how to get around on a MITS bus.” MITS has you covered with its trip planner at http://www.mitsbus.org/plan-trip/. The trip planner gives you step-by-step directions on which bus stops and lines will get you where you need to go!

3. MITS App

The MITS Bus app is the easiest way to track down a bus on the go. The app offers impressive features, including:

  • Real-time location of MITS buses
  • Bus routes conveniently displayed on the map
  • Bus location-based ETAs
  • Custom arrival notification
  • Viewing all of MITS route schedules

You can download MITS’s app by searching “MITS Bus” on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

4. Clean, Safe, and Reliable

MITS is proud to offer the most reliable and affordable choice for transportation across the city of Muncie, which is why MITS has a strong focus on safety and cleanliness. To ensure riders and drivers stay safe and healthy, MITS vacuums, disinfects, and washes its buses nightly.

5. The Three Benefits

Did you know that there are three benefits when you hop aboard a MITS bus? The benefits of transit include the savings win, health win, and green win.

The Savings Win

  • On average, transit riders saved 4,400 miles of driving and $10,000 in fuel and maintenance costs.

The Health Win

  • Studies have shown people who use public transportation regularly tend to be healthier than people who don’t.

The Green Win

  • A single commuter switching their commute over to MITS buses will reduce about 5,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually.

MITS will be resuming regular service beginning Monday, May 18.
