The Gateway to Growing pavilion is in a significant part of Muncie, located between 8th and 12th street between the South Central Neighborhood and Thomas Park. It is part of the 8twelve Coalition, which aims to improve the quality of life and quality of place for individuals between the two streets.

The Gateway to Growing will be used as a community hub for everybody in the neighborhood to gather, relax and be healthy. People can garden and walk on the gravel track that wraps around the outside of the in fenced garden.

The first phase of development includes a pavilion used to provide shade and storage for community gardeners who have rented plots of land from the Maring-Hunt library.
