Ball State's School of Music held its first Spring Shout Songwriting Competition at Be Here Now on April 14.

Six participants competed to win the grand prize of a trip to the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, a public conservatory for popular music based in Mannheim, Germany.

Music media production major Jeremy Nevil won the competition and will travel to Germany this summer to study with top level musicians and band coaches.

The School of Music hopes to continue the competition in the future.
