Odds and Ends: A freshman year fable

As I begin my second year at Ball State it is clear to me now that these stressors never truly evaporate, but that does not mean tactics to repress them are nonexistent. So for any freshman out there currently flying by the seat of their pants without a semester plan, you are not alone. Relax, sit up straight and do not take this advice with a grain of salt, it might just save your education or even your health.

An Open Letter to ‘Minecraft’: Thank you for 10 years

The world of video games has gone through a plethora of innovation and evolution. The jump from pixels to polygons, the advent of online play, and all the warfare between console and pc loyalists are just a few examples. All of these stories and more have only added to the history of the most expressive and interactive entertainment medium the world has ever known. When looking back on the most impactful moments in gaming that have come during my lifetime, I can not help but think of Minecraft. The memories and hours spent building my own world have impacted me in more ways than I may ever realize. As we pass over the first 10 years of this monumental game, it seems best that I reflect on my own experiences that made this game so special to me and millions of others across the world.


E3 2019: Ubisoft Recap

 Ubisoft has always been the dark horse when it comes to E3. They never have the all-out cringe quality like EA or pulse-pounding reveals like Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo. The French developer always finds itself in the middle tiers of the E3 grading pool right beside Square Enix. This year, Ubisoft’s biggest reveal of the afternoon may have been dashed weeks before by leaks, but “Watch Dogs: Legion” and a multitude of additional titles packed the hour-long program. If only those additional announcements could have been about the games that seem to be stuck in development hell instead. 


Ball State Baseball sweeps Ohio in weekend series

The Ball State Cardinals (33-17, 17-5 MAC) swept the Ohio Bobcats (16-30, 10-13 MAC) at the Ball Diamond at First Merchants Ballpark Complex this weekend in a series of three games which included the third no-hitter in school history.
