Below are highlights and results from the past week’s Delaware County sporting events that those on the Daily News Sports Team were unable to attend. 

Monday (August 28)

Could not find results. 

Tuesday (August 29)

Delta volleyball fell to Greenfield Central 3-0. Senior Emily Reno had ten kills and five blocks. Junior Addie Phillippe had eight kills, one ace, seven digs and 16 assists. 

Delta girls’ soccer defeated Muncie Central 4-0. Sophomore Aubree Jarrells had two goals while sophomores Grace Jarells and Jordan Bunch each had one. 

Delta boys’ tennis fell 3-2 to Greenfield-Central. Junior Own Cupp won 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 3 singles spot. Seniors Preston Shanayda and Dalton Royal won their doubles match 6-4, 6-1. 

Wes-Del girls’ golf defeated Southern Wells 223-230. Freshman Jane Armington was medalist with a 40. 

Muncie Central volleyball defeated Cowan 3-2. Stats for the game could not be found. 

Wednesday (August 30)

Burris boys’ tennis defeated Winchester 4-1. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Delta girls’ soccer defeated Anderson 9-0. Aubree Jarrells led the Eagles with four goals.

Delta girls’ golf defeated Lapel at The Edge in Anderson 180-197. Senior Belle Brown was medalist with a 38. Seniors Avery Stinson and Hollis Klinger followed with a pair of 45’s.

Daleville volleyball defeated Seton Catholic 3-0. 

Daleville girls’ golf defeated Yorktown 210-221 at The Players Club in Yorktown. Senior Ava Capes led the Broncos with a 45.

Thursday (August 31)

Delta volleyball fell to Mt. Vernon 3-1. Senior Olivia Morris had 11 kills, while  Reno had 12 kills and 4 aces. 

Delta girls’ soccer tied with Burris 2-2. Aubree Jarrells scored both goals for the Eagles. 

In a three-team all-Delaware County girls’ golf  match at Cardinal Hills Golf Course in Selma, Daleville came in first with a 192, Wapahani was second with a 200, and Wes-Del was third with a 203. Warriors freshman Jane Armington was medalist with a 38. 

Delta girls’ golf (187) defeated Pendleton Heights (195) and Yorktown (220) at Albany Golf Club. Tigers senior Kayleigh Aguliario was a medalist with a 40. Klinger led the way for the Eagles with a 42. 

Wes-Del volleyball defeated Union 3-0. 

Daleville track and field competed in the Landes Invitational. The boys placed  sixth and the girls placed  third. 

Daleville volleyball defeated Frankton 3-1. Junior Trishell Johnson finished with 12 kills and 2 blocks. 

Cowan volleyball defeated Monroe Central 3-0. No stats could be found. 

Friday (September 1)

Yorktown football fell to New Palestine 30-22. Senior quarterback Mason Moulton went 14-for-39 with 186 passing yards,one touchdown pass and an interception. Senior Ayden Ewing had 75 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. 

Delta football defeated Shelbyville 21-14. Junior quarterback Bronson Edwards went 12-for-23 with 207 passing yards,two touchdown passes, and  an interception. Senior Kaiden Bond had 111rushing yards. 

Muncie Central football fell to McCutcheon 34-7. Senior quarterback Leo Boyd went 5-for-17 with 69 passing yards. Boyd also led the Bearcats with 82 rushing yards.

Saturday (September 2) 

Delta boys’ soccer defeated Shelbyville 4-3. Freshman Senad Selimovic had three goals and freshman Cooper Pierce had one. 

Delta boys’ tennis  competed at the Fort Wayne Carroll Invitational. Senior Will Kyle and junior Kam Swoboda both picked up their first varsity wins. In the end, nine of eleven Eagles won at least one varsity match. 

Delta cross country competed at the Marion Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University. Leading the boys squad was senior Tyler Dillon, who finished  fourth overall in the Varsity Purple Division. For the girls, senior Nicki Southerland came in third in the Chuck Schlemmer Varsity Elite Division. 

Wes-Del Volleyball competed in the 14th Kay Saunders Classic at Wes-Del High School. The Warriors were the champions as they finished the tournament going 4-0. 

Cowan cross country competed in the Coach Noff Invitational, hosted by Union City. The boys’ squad placed second in the event, and senior Gavin Ashby finished in first place. Senior Sara Nichols led the girls’ team as she finished in third place.
