Below are highlights and results from the past week’s Delaware County sporting events that those on the Daily News Sports Team were unable to attend. 

Monday (September 11)

Daleville girls golf defeated Alexandria 183-192 at the Golf Club of Alexandria. Senior Addy Gick and senior Ava Capes led the Broncos with a pair of 40s. 

Tuesday (September 12)

Delta volleyball fell to New Palestine 3-1. Senior Emily Reno had 18 kills and 6 blocks. Junior Addie Philippe had 9 kills, 31 assists, and 4 blocks.

Delta girls’ soccer defeated New Castle 6-1. Sophomore Aubree Jarrels had two goals and three assists. Junior Chloe Newsome had one goal and one assist. 

Delta boys’ tennis defeated Yorktown 4-1. It is the 57th straight time that the Eagles have defeated the Tigers (since 1993). Some of the best performances were No. 2 singles player junior Kody Vest and No. 3 singles player senior Jacob Bilby. Vest won two sets (6-0,6-0) and Bilby  also bested his opponent in two sets (6-0, 6-2). 

Wes-Del volleyball defeated Monroe Central 3-0. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Yorktown girls soccer fell to Pendleton Heights 1-0. Junior Annie Mote had two steals. 

Yorktown volleyball defeated New Castle 3-1. Senior Charlotte Vinson led the Tigers with 32 kills. 

Burris volleyball defeated Seton Catholic 3-0. Junior Lilly Howell led the Owls with 11 kills. 

Daleville volleyball defeated Blue River 3-0. Junior Trishell Johnson led with 19 kills.

Daleville girls golf (192) defeated Wes-Del (209) and Monroe Central (212). Capes led the Broncos with a 42. Freshman Jane Armington led the Warriors and was medalist with a 39. 

Both the Daleville cross-country teams took first place at Alexandria. Stats for the race could not be found.

Cowan volleyball defeated Randolph Southern 3-1. Freshman Savannah Hall led the team with 15 kills.

Wapahani Volleyball defeated Shenandoah 3-0. Senior Lauren Rich led the team with 13 kills.   

Wednesday (September 13)

Delta volleyball fell to Noblesville 3-0. Reno had nine kills and three blocks. Philippe had 5 kills, 7 digs, 15 assists, and 1 ace. 

Delta boys tennis defeated state-ranked Fort Wayne Carroll 3-2. It’s the first time the Eagles have done so since 2018. Vest took the first win (6-1, 6-3) at No. 2 singles. He was followed by No. 2 doubles players sophomore Aaron Elliot and freshman Tyce Dishman (6-4, 7-5) and No. 1 doubles players senior Dalton Royal and senior Preston Shanayda (7-5, 5-7, 6-1). 

Yorktown boys soccer fell to Pendleton Heights 6-1. Senior Ethan Guinn scored the lone goal for the Tigers. 

Wapahani volleyball fell to Madison-Grant 3-2. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Thursday  (September 14)

Delta girls’ soccer defeated New Castle 9-0. Nine different Eagles scored during the win. 

Daleville volleyball defeated Muncie Central 3-0. Johnson led the Broncos with 11 kills. 

Cowan volleyball fell to Eastbrook 3-0. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Wapahani volleyball defeated Randolph Southern 3-0. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Friday  (September 15)

Delta fell to Mount Vernon 31-20. Junior quarterback Bronson Edwards went 9-for-29 with 192 passing yards and three touchdown passes. 

Wes-Del was defeated by North White 58-26. Senior quarterback Triton Blevins went 8-for-16 with 142 passing yards and two touchdown passes. Senior Trey Adams had 61 rushing yards and a touchdown. 

Muncie Central fell to Lafayette Jefferson 41-0. Senior quarterback Leo Boyd used his speed to his advantage as he finished the game with 163 rushing yards. That included a 53-yard run.

Saturday  (September 16)

Yorktown volleyball split their doubleheader. In their first match, the Tigers fell to Providence 3-1. Stats for the match could not be found. In their second match against Dwenger, the Tigers won 3-0. Stats for the match could not be found. 

Yorktown boys cross country finished runner-up in the Yorktown “Jim Leffler” Invitational. Freshman Wyatt Turner finished in first place.
