Below are highlights and results from the past week’s Delaware County sporting events that those on the Daily News Sports Team were unable to attend. 

Monday (Sep. 18)

Delta volleyball defeated Mississinawa 3-0. Senior Olivia Morris had nine kills and five blocks. Junior Addie Phillippe had 9 kills, 2 aces and 17 assists. 

Delta boys soccer defeated Wapahani 6-0. Senior Brayden Stanley led the team with two goals and four assists. 

Cowan volleyball fell to Eastern Hancock 3-1. Senior Maycie Martin and senior Cheyenne Carter led with seven kills each. 

Muncie Central soccer defeated Yorktown 3-1. Senior Finn Gruver led the Bearcats with two goals. 

Tuesday (Sep. 19)

Delta volleyball defeated Muncie Central 3-0. Phillippe led the team with 14 kills and had 2 aces. 

Delta girl's soccer fell to Jay County 4-2. Sophomore Nila Johnson had one goal. 

Yorktown girls soccer defeated Wapahani 2-1. Senior Nina Fischer led the Tigers with three goals. 

Wednesday (Sep. 20)

Delta boys tennis defeated Pendleton Heights 4-1. Junior Kody Vest and senior Simon Marlow, both took wins at No.1 and No. 2 singles. Senior’s Dalton Royal and Preston Shanayda as well as sophomore Aaron Elliot and freshman Tyce Dishman won at No.1 and No.2 doubles.  

Daleville volleyball defeated Shenandoah 3-0. Stats from the match could not be found. 

Cowan volleyball defeated Union 3-0. Martin led the Blackhawks with ten kills. 

Wes-Del volleyball defeated Frankton 3-2. Stats from the match could not be found. 

Yorktown Girls soccer defeated Anderson 12-0. Sophomore Harper Mitchell led the way with five goals. 

Thursday  (Sep. 21)

Delta girls soccer defeated Wapahani 5-2. Sophomore Jordan Bunch led the Eagles with three goals. 

Wes-Del volleyball defeated Jay County 3-0. Stats from the match could not be found.

Yorktown girls soccer defeated Jay County 3-1. Stats from the match could not be found.

Yorktown volleyball fell to Cathedral 3-0. Junior Charlotte Vinson led the way with 17 kills. 

Friday  (Sep. 22)

Yorktown football defeated Shelbyville 42-19. Senior Mason Moulton went 11-for-22 with 159 passing yards and two touchdowns. Senior Jayce Key had 159 rushing yards and two touchdowns. 

Saturday  (Sep. 23)

Cowan volleyball played in the MEC 8VB Tournament. Cowan's first loss to Springs Valley 2-0. Then they were defeated by Morristown 2-0. 

Wes-Del placed second in the Class A Showdown. Senior Ella Mauck was named to the all-tournament team. 

Yorktown volleyball had two matches on Saturday. In the first match, the Tigers defeated Caroll 3-2. In the second, Yorktown defeated Noblesville 3-2. Stats from the matches could not be found.

Delta cross country competed at the Hoosier-Heritage Conference (HHC) Championship. Senior Nicki Southerland came in first for the Eagles. It is her fourth straight HHC Championship victory

Burris volleyball defeated Bethesda Christian 2-0 and Greenwood Christian Academy 2-0 to become Pioneer Conference champions.
