Below are highlights and results from the past week’s Delaware County sporting events that those on the Daily News Sports Team were unable to attend. 

Monday (Aug. 21)

Delta girls golf defeated Yorktown 194-208. Eagles senior Belle Brown led the way with a 43, while senior Hollis Klinger followed with a 44. Tigers senior Kayleigh Agugliaro was medalist with a 37. 

Delta boys tennis defeated New Palestine 3-2. No. 3 singles player junior Owen Cupp was victorious after opening his match down by three when he rallied to win 6-4. In No. 1 singles, senior Simon Marlow started his match down 1-4, but rallied to win 6-4. 

Burris boys tennis fell to Shenandoah 4-1.  

Burris boys soccer lost to Pendleton Heights 4-2. 

Burris volleyball defeated Liberty Christian 3-0.

Wes-Del volleyball beat Eastern Hancock 3-0. 

Cowan volleyball fell to Connersville 3-0. 

Daleville volleyball lost to Lapel 3-1.

Tuesday (Aug. 22)

Delta girls golf faced Blue Valley at Albany Golf Course. The Eagles shot a 197 while the Vikings finished with an incomplete score. Senior Belle Brown was medalist with a 37. Senior Avery Stinson followed with a 40, which included an eagle on hole four. 

Delta boys soccer defeated Mount Vernon 2-0. Senior Brayden Stanley scored  two goals and junior Samori McKell-Jeffers had double digit saves. 

Yorktown volleyball topped Delta 3-2. 

Daleville volleyball beat Hagerstown 3-0. 

Cowan volleyball fell to Lapel 3-0. 

Muncie Central volleyball lost to Madison-Grant 3-0.

Muncie Central boys soccer was fell to Pendleton Heights 2-0.

Wednesday (Aug. 23)

 Wes-Del girls golf defeated Eastern Hancock 216-249. Freshman Jane Armington led the Warriors and was medalist with a 39.

 Thursday (Aug. 24)

Delta volleyball bested Daleville 3-0. Senior Emily Reno had 3 aces and 6 kills. Junior Myla Fink received praise for her serves. 

Wapahani volleyball defeated Wes-Del 3-1. 

Friday (Aug. 25)

Delta football defeated Norwell 34-16. Junior quarterback Bronson Edwards went 12-for-25 with 213 passing yards. Junior Nolan Carpenter finished with 196 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns. Senior Kaiden Bond had 77 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. 

Saturday (Aug. 26)

 Delta girls soccer fell to New Palestine 5-1. Sophomore Nila Johnson recorded the only goal for the Eagles. 

Delta boys tennis participated in a dual meet at Culver Academy. The Eagles defeated Shelbyville 4-0 before losing  to Culver 4-1. 

Daleville won the Mid-Eastern Conference (MEC) girls golf tournament. Senior Addy Gick led the Broncos with an 87, which was good enough to be named ALL-MEC. Senior Ava Capes shot a 93 and earned ALL-MEC as well. Wes-Del and Wapahani tied for second place. Warriors freshman Jane Armington was the individual champion with a 78 and was ALL-MEC. Junior Gracie Drake earned All-MEC honors. For Wapahani, sophomore Braylin Patterson led with a 101 and earned All-MEC honors. Sophomore Kenzie Brannon was also named All-MEC with a 108.

 Burris volleyball won the Cowan Blackhawks invite. 

 Muncie Central girls soccer defeated Marion 6-1, and the Bearcats boys soccer club did as well.

In an away tournament, Muncie Central volleyball fell to Oak Hill 2-0, Adams Central 2-0 and Southwestern 2-1.
