Ball State women’s swim and dive is on the road this weekend as it heads to Oxford, Ohio, for the Miami Invitational.
The Miami Invitational is one of the biggest meets of the season, and senior co-captain Kim Scott said it's a great opportunity to compete against a variety of schools.
“We are hoping to get some season bests and lifetime bests this weekend,” Scott said. “We are swimming about the same races we have been racing with the exception of a few people.”
Nine different women's teams are listed as competing in the invitational on Miami's website, though Ball State isn't. Scott said it should be a good test with Mid-American Conference opponents like Miami and Bowling Green in the mix.
“We haven’t swam against [Miami] yet this season and they are one of the top schools in the MAC, which will be fun to swim against,” Scott said.
Ball State is coming off a 151-149 win at Grand Valley State, but senior co-captain Courtney Mudd said there's still room for improvement.
“Grand Valley beat us last year so we are really happy we won this year,” Mudd said. “I am really proud of the team and how we pulled through with a win after five weekends of meets.”
Mudd added that the Miami Invitational will be a good opportunity to see where the team stands in the conference.
The invitational begins Dec. 1 and continues through Dec. 3.
