A look into domestic violence statistics and available resources

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, “domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, threats and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence can vary dramatically.”

Ball State alumnus discusses history and politics of Afghanistan

Students gathered in the Burkhardt Building Oct. 20 to attend a lecture by 2014 Ball State alumnus Qais Faqiri. The lecture, titled “Centralization of Power and the Collapse of Afghanistan,” was hosted by the Global Studies Association (GSA) and focused on the history of Afghanistan leading up to the evacuation of U.S. troops Aug. 30, as well as Faqiri’s own flight from the country Aug. 23.

Ball State Counseling Center staff therapist discusses the Self-Care Challenge and stress coping mechanisms

Tests, essays, projects, work and social activities — the list goes on. College students deal with a number of things that can cause stress every day, and pressures from school are among the top reasons for stress, according to the Jed Foundation. As these responsibilities begin to build up, it can be hard for students to find ways to care for themselves.

Tech Startup Weekend comes to Muncie

Tech Startup Weekend was hosted this weekend at 115 S. Walnut St. Oct. 8 - 10. Dozens of participants, majorly Ball State students, participated in the events to learn about entrepreneurship and creating a startup company.

Ball State Foundation announces Top 100 Student Awards

When Brittney Grim, director of student and young alumni philanthropy and 2018 Ball State alumna, was a student at Ball State, she said she wished there was a program for students who performed well in school and were involved but maybe didn’t get the recognition they felt they deserved from the university.

Ball State's Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute launches new 'Gen: i' program

With the tap of keys on a keyboard and the click of a mouse, a group of undergraduate and graduate students each pressed “send” on an application. They were chosen from a small pool of applicants after presenting who they are to the lens of a camera and writing a 1,000-word-maximum essay to explain why they should be part of a program that’s never been done before.

Ball State Board of Trustees discusses decreased freshmen enrollment, Brown Family Amphitheater budget

Ball State’s Board of Trustees considered reasons for about an 8 percent decrease in freshman enrollment for the 2021-22 school year at its meeting Oct. 1. Paula Luff, vice president for enrollment, planning and management, said students weren’t able to visit campus in-person due to the COVID-19 pandemic when deciding whether to enroll for the fall.
