The historic Patterson Block has hosted many businesses and visitors in downtown Muncie, and on Aug. 5, it will host its grand opening under new owner Kimberly Ferguson, a native Hoosier and Ball State graduate.
The building used to host Ivy Tech's Chesterfield's Cafe and culinary arts classes. The commercial kitchen space will offer equipment to local food service vendors in the building.
Ferguson owns Pink Leaf: A Learning Company, which oversees the Patterson Block and rents out the commercial kitchen space. There are five other local business owned by women in the Patterson Block including Debbie’s Handmade Soap, Sea Salt & Cinnamon, Bloom & Be: Therapy and Education Services, Runaround Soup and Danielle’s Bistro. Patterson Block also houses City Hope Fellowship and Adopt-a-Hive.
While not all the businesses have officially opened in the Patterson Block, everyone is invited to set up at the grand opening from 5–8 p.m. Aug. 5 to join food vendors, live music, games, giveaways, local artist displays and more. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will kick off the festivities at 5 p.m.
The grand opening event will commemorate the official opening of the building and its businesses to the public. There will be tours of the building every thirty minutes throughout the evening.
