Make sure you tell your mother ‘thank you’ Sunday.

Mother’s Day, which was created in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1916, is a day to say thank you to mothers.

But if you find yourself unsure of how to express your gratitude, check out this list of things to do with your mom on Mother’s Day:

Make dinner

Everyone knows the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Make your mom a dinner she’ll enjoy. Try one of these Dinner for 2ish recipes.

See a movie

If your mom likes a good laugh, you should take her to check out one of the comedies coming out this weekend. “I Am Your Mom” follows a new art student who is excited to fly the nest only to realize there’s a lot to miss at home. “Life of the Party” brings another zany Melissa McCarthy character who, after a divorce, decides to go back to college.

Explore a museum or park

Get out and enjoy this summer weather. Plan a day hike or a family bike ride. If hitting the trails isn’t really your family’s style, try visiting a local museum. If museums aren’t really your style, make the best of it — it is your mother’s day afterall.

Let her take a nap

After all, it is her day. If she wants to forgo afternoon activities and take a nap, let her. And hey, if you wind up bored, you can always clean the house while she is napping.

In Muncie for Mother’s Day?

Muncie Children’s Museum is hosting a Mother’s Day celebration Sunday from 1-5 p.m. Plus, admission is half-off.
