Indy Eleven star Eamon Zayed is joining Ball State's soccer staff as a volunteer assistant.

Zayed, who was born in Ireland, played in domestic leagues in Ireland, Iran and Malaysia before coming the United States to play forward for the North American Soccer League's Indy Eleven before the 2016 season.

“I am delighted to be joining such a successful program and to have the opportunity to work under one of the best college women's soccer coaches in the country in [Ball State head coach] Craig Roberts,” Zayed said in a Ball State athletic department press release.

Zayed owns a UEFA Class B coaching license and scored 15 goals for the Indy Eleven in 31 appearances for the club. The 33-year-old has eight international caps with Libya's national team, scoring one goal.

“We are very excited for Eamon to join us,” Roberts said in the press release. “He brings an immense amount of knowledge and experience, having played at the national team and professional levels for many years."

Zayed will assist the Cardinals in his "free time from his club obligations," according to the release.
